Using the Keyboard

The TI-84 Plus CE keyboard is organized to provide easy access to all calculator functions. This section provides an overview of the keyboard layout and key functions.

Keyboard Layout

The TI-84 Plus CE keyboard is divided into several sections:

  • Navigation Keys: Arrow keys for moving the cursor
  • Math and Number Keys: For entering numerical values and basic operations
  • Function Keys: Access to graphing, statistics, and other features
  • Alpha Keys: For entering text and variable names
  • Special Function Keys: [2nd], [ALPHA], [MODE], etc.

Primary Keys

Primary keys execute the function printed on the key itself. For example:

  • [MATH]: Opens the math menu
  • [GRAPH]: Displays the graph screen
  • [CLEAR]: Clears the entry line or exits menus
  • [DEL]: Deletes the character at the cursor
  • [ENTER]: Evaluates expressions or executes commands

Secondary Functions

Secondary functions are accessed by pressing [2nd] followed by the key. They are printed in blue above the key.

  • [2nd] [MODE]: Quit (exits current operation)
  • [2nd] [ENTER]: Recall previous entry
  • [2nd] [SIN]: sin⁻¹ (inverse sine function)
  • [2nd] [ON]: Turns the calculator off

Alpha Functions

Alpha functions are accessed by pressing [ALPHA] followed by the key. They are printed in green above the key.

  • [ALPHA] [1]: Enters the letter A
  • [ALPHA] [2]: Enters the letter B
  • [ALPHA] [SIN]: Enters the letter Y
  • [ALPHA] [ALPHA]: Activates alpha-lock mode

Arrow Keys

The arrow keys have multiple functions depending on the context:

  • Home Screen: Navigate through entry and history

Special Mode Keys
